Diet Soda Success Stories

I’ve been trying to get back onto some sort of regular IF schedule but have been struggling. I am thinking about leveraging diet soda (Coke Zero) as a tool, at least for the next few months, to help me get back on. I was just wondering if anyone has had success with IF and drinking diet soda during the fasting window? Thanks in advance.

Answer

It works for me. I’d recommend finding a non caffeinated option too though. My go-to used to be fresca until the meds I got on made me have to avoid grapefruit juice. Now I stick to diet A&W or sprite zero

I’ve been on 1400 calorie under 50 carbs OMAD for 228 days. I’ve lost 86 lbs. I’m a Diet Pepsi and Sprite Zero junkie. I do drink a lot of water, but I have been successful with caffeinated and non caffeinated diet soft drinks. Had I struggled to lose at a good pace, I would have eliminated them. So far, I haven’t had to. I’m 26 lbs from my goal weight.

I’ve just started my IF journey but I love Olipop soda. 2-5g of sugar depending on flavor and 9g of fiber. (Also suggested not to drink 2 a day till you see how the probiotics work with your body)

I’m a beverage goblin, Olipop and mushroom coffee are my latest fixations other then trying to balance in IF into my lifestyle. 😅

Answer

I find that it doesn’t work for me. Aspartame from coke zero or diet dr pepper causes me to get hypoglycemia, so I can definitely tell my body reacts with some insulin response from it. I haven’t tried other artificial sweeteners myself but given the literature I’ve read most of them cause insulin response (higher than table surgar), as others have said.
