Hey all, I’m currently working on a goal of losing 50 pounds by the last week of Sept 2023. My SW is currently 241.1lb, 34F, and 5’10. My GW would be between 170-175lbs. I’d like to be able to eventually walk 5 miles, per day, 4-5 days a week to prepare for the trip (increasing steps every week slowly to get to 5 miles daily), and finally broke down in getting a subscription for MyFitnessPal so I can see what I am eating and adjust, since I do better with numerical figures instead of just the Noom way of doing it. I plan on consuming mostly water, slowly, and incorporating more produce and protein in my way of eating.
I also plan to start IF for 12/12 then go to 14/10 as I progress.
Question is, is it a reasonable goal to want to lose 50 pounds in 6.5 months, if I follow what I outlined above? TYIA.
Losing 50 pounds in 6.5 months is definitely achievable from your starting point, as is working up to walking 5 miles a day, if you have time to fit that into your schedule.
More water and veggies are often great tools in losing weight, as is time restricted eating. Adjusting your calories as you lose is a great approach. I’d try to stay in a daily 500 calorie deficit. I’m not familiar with how accurate MFP is in counting the calories burned with your exercise, but sometimes that can be overestimated, so keep an eye on it.
In 6.5 months you have time to adjust your plan if you’re not seeing as much progress as you’d like. Many of us have found great success when we’ve eliminated snacking and eating after dinner. Shrinking your eating window can also be effective if your weight loss stalls.
Best of luck, and I hope you have a great trip!
So you would need to average 2 pounds a week weight loss…this is doable…I would approximate your need to keep calories within 1200 to 1500 a day max to accomplish it….
When I was fasting to lose (I do it to maintain now), I went from 250 to 190, I am a 6’ 6” athletic build male…it took me about 6 months to lose the 60 pounds staying under 1800 calories a day and working out….
