Yes. Fat cells have mitochondria, and those mitochondria rely on electrolytes to form the electron gradient that allows the cells to create energy.

There’s a group of people who water-fast with distilled water. Some of them do rather long fasts. Distilled water pulls electrolytes out of your body… And yet many of them seem to do ok.

and if you’re interested in how the nutrient requirements and usage of the body changes when fasting then look up dr. Valter longo and some of the other fasting researchers. The only difference between regular fasting and dry fasting is the metabolic water generation and increased stress when dry fasting. Its not a neglible difference but there is probably significant overlap between understanding the mechanisms and processes of fasting and dry fasting.

Essentially in any fasting your body starts breaking down cells after a day or so. When breaking down these cells some parts are repurposed throughout the body to repair other cells or fuel other chemical processes. So your nutrient requirements change entirely. It is unkown what nutrient requirements, if any, are required pre fast. But post fast there could be differences in how you refeed. Ex. I get skin rashes on my chin if I do not take in vitamin C when I refeed. It gets worse the more carbohydrates I take in.

I would not be surpised if you can find some researcher who put in effort into figuring out the best refeed meals for regular fasting.
