Do I have to focus on keto?

So, I have been starting intermittent fasting and I usually do a 16:8 fast. Do I have to be on keto to see real results? I try to watch my diet and eating habits. Thanks for any advice even supplements to take.

Answer

Nope, you don’t have to stick to a keto diet to see great results. See for example, myself.

But certainly some folks do find it a helpful additional structure. The example I always use is it’s just hella harder to overeat on say fried eggs than it is oreos.

Answer

My view is that Keto low carb regiment does help when you’re on IF and vice versa, IF helps when you’re doing Keto. Because Keto prioritizes fats over carbs it stabilizes your insulin levels and suppresses hunger, which helps you to stay on IF longer and with less mental effort. Keto also stimulates release of ketones, which provides boost to your overall dieting effort. At the end of the day though it so comes back to CICO, whether you’re doing IF or Keto. Neither diet would help you slim down unless you’re watching what you’re eating and how much you’re eating. You can stay on 23:1 IF and then eat two pounds of bacon. Don’t expect good results.

Answer

I do low carb because I know that I’m carb sensitive, physically AND mentally.

You don’t have to do keto to lose weight but if you find yourself eating too many carbs and it interferes with your results, try lowering them and find what works for you.

Answer

Perhaps it is needed in some extreme cases. But I think IF tends to work better with some carbs included, for most people.

I like eating carbs also because it gives me a trump card (reduce carbs) against plateaus in the future 🃏
