Do I need to consume more calories to make up for an extended (40 hour+) fast?

Right now I tend to stick to 16:8 or 18:6 depending how I’m feeling. If I decided to skip my eating window one day, do I need to eat more calories to make up for it?

For example:

I usually try to eat at a minimum -500 less than my maintenance, so I’m worried about what I should do if I skip an eating window. If I normally eat 1800 a day, should I bump it up to 2700 on Monday and Wednesday or something?

Answer

I mean, no, you definitely don’t need to eat more, but I’m curious what makes you even ask? If you’re already eating in a 500 calorie defecit, you’re obviously trying to lose weight. Why would you try to “make up” for a calorie deficit by eating above maintenance the next day?

Answer

Based on research papers and what I’ve seen from Thomas Delauer

If you do it once a month? No.If you do it weekly or twice a week? then yes I would suggest eating at maintenance the day after you do the longer fast to prevent slowing down your metabolism
