Do the nutrition facts for gum take into account that you're not supposed to swallow it?

I was chewing on some gum (as a replacement for a sweet snack) when I looked down and saw the nutrition facts and I wondered the question I asked above.

Does it even matter? Does the gum “remnant” left over after it loses flavor have any calories at all?

Answer

Yes! It excludes the gum base. I learned this straight from a major chewing gum manufacturer. It’s similar to USDA nutrition information for bananas and oranges, which take into account that you don’t eat the skin. They aim to measure what is conventionally consumed.
