I think it’s a good idea. You risk compaction/impaction if the poop gets too dry in there.

But it also depends on you - do you frequently have dry BMs or are you okay?

I’ve done maybe a dozen 3-5 day dry fasts. Only cleared my bowels on a couple of them. Never had an issue. But clearing the bowels can make a mess, and you’re going to write-off an evening from all the pooping and leaking.

I had this question today. I’m on day 2 of a 3 day fast and felt weak today. My tummy made some sounds and started hurting a bit. So I took a dump and felt amazing right after. Maybe lots of magnesium can clear the bowels before fast. Something needs to be done

I tried doing a salt water flush right at the start of a water fast - never again!
But I think it was the salt and water overload that made it so super uncomfortable and also made me feel bloated for almost the whole fast. Guessing it would not have been as bad with a regular laxative in a fairly small dose.
