Do you have to space out vitamin D supplements throughout the day?

Hi folks, I know that you can safely take a few thousand IUs of vitamin D a day but I saw a post claiming that the daily dose shouldn’t be taken all at once, though I can’t find any more information about that no matter how hard I google. Does it not matter since vitamin D is fat soluble?

Thanks!

Answer

That post is half right. Taking it with a meal is a good idea for better absorption. However only water soluble vitamins need to be spaced out throughout the day like that. With large prescriptions doses of D, it can be a weekly dose. Your body holds on to fat soluble vitamins at a more consistent level. This is also why is takes so long to build up if you are deficient.

Answer

I take a daily dose of 1000IU because I’m deficient at once. I take it after my breakfast with oats and peanut butter. I think I’ve heard it’s fat soluble so there are effective ways to take it. I have no adverse effects so far.
