I’m planning to study for a new job, will take about 3 months. Is this a good time to start IF or should I wait? I cook all my meals right now so the cooking is not the issue, but i don’t want to lose energy or constantly have to worry.
IF is great for studying. Amazing, actually.
I used to get ‘bad’ couple of days in the past, when getting back on track after breaks from IF.
Since discovering importance of electrolytes, I no longer seem to get it. So that is my only tip.
In my case otherwise. I have a lot energy! IF is so flexible, so u can adjust your window accordingly to your schedule. It’s easier to start when your diet has reduced carbs and you drink a lot of water. You can watch Jason Fung videos about fasting. Good luck!
I noticed a reduction in energy and strength at the gym for a week or 2 when I first started.
Think it was just my body getting used to metabolising fat instead of readily available carbs. My lifting was about 2/3 what it normally is.
Didnt notice it affect my concentration particularly though in the early stages. And agree with others that concentration is ultimately in a better place than it was before starting IF.
I mostly do 16-8, occasionally 18-6 with the odd 24 hour fast thrown in and plenty of off days when it doesn’t suit my routine (shift work etc)
I’ve not been doing IF very long, but for the past week I’ve followed one meal a day while keeping daily calories between 800-1200. My energy levels don’t feel substantially different overall, though if anything I may be slightly more energetic now than before.
My blood glucose when fasting is somewhat down, but it’s within the normal range and not hypoglycemic (88 from a high of 110).
I don’t follow a low-carb or keto diet, I just eat moderately during a two-to-three-hour fasting window.
