Do you measure your blood sugar as soon as waking up, or before the end of your fast?

If I do 18:6 IF and my first meal is at 14:00, would it be better to take the blood glucose test after waking up, or before having the first meal?

Answer

There is no one right answer to this question – it depends on what works best for you and your diabetes management plan. Some people find that measuring their blood sugar before breakfast gives them the most accurate estimate of their blood sugar levels, while others find that doing a measurement as soon as they wake up is more accurate. Talk to your doctor or diabetes educator to figure out what works best for you.
