Hi
Is it necessary to take elecrolytes during a 3 and a half day fast…? I read a lot about people doing only water fasts (and i assume that it means no elecrolytes), or just simply people doing fasts, no mentioning of electrolytes whatsover…
Then i read (well mainly on youtube - watch) a lot of videos (ehm… sponsored videos) about that you NEED to supplement elecrolytes during fasting… I read (and LOL-ed) that you should supplement elecrolytes even during intermittent fasting (only 16-8 (!!))… I read it on site… well… that sells elecrolytes :-)!… Who would knew… :-)
To put it simply - I find (granted - with my limited information and knowledge) the elecrolytes to be just a nonsense promoted by snakes-oil-salesmen to sell their stupi* product. Sure if you are doing extreme fasts (like i dont know 7+ days) than it might be a good idea i guess. But is it really necessary for a 3-4 day fast?
(im not even asking if it is necessary for intermittent fasting16-8 , cause i find that question offensive (hint - no its not, its just snakes oil salesmen trying to rip your money from you)…
Im otherwise healthy, am not fat, 35 years old, i take multivitamins etc. (when not fasting) etc. Im NOT exercising when im fasting (i exercise when im NOT fasting - yes, but NOT during fast)

Do You need to really “worry” or even think about (or use) elecrolytes for 3-4 days fasts…?
I don’t think you “need” it. I did a week fast and used electrolyte powder, mainly because it was the only way I would actually drink. I generally only drink when I eat - which doesn’t happen on a fast.
I used this - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XVCD1MY
Everyone is different and everyone will have different needs/experiences. Try it and see how you feel!
for me personally, I think it’s just to get us to buy more products. I have never needed anything but water for 3-4 day fasts.
I’m only 6 weeks on IF. I’m doing 18:6 or 19:5. I have one 42h on my calendar. My first week was difficult and one of the reasons was a headache. I don’t remember when I started supplementing water and tea with regular salt during the fast window. I do remember that it helped me to get rid of the headache and I feelt less weak.Since then I replaced salt in my drinks with a combination of sodium, potassium and magnesium. It is more expensive than regular salt but so is also a himalayan salt and different crafted salts. I don’t buy branded stuff with a ridiculous price tag. Just 3 in 1.If it’s placebo it still works for me he, he. (Never thought I would say something like that!)Some people say that multivitamin pills are scams too. They are not absorbed by our bodies. I’m taking them anyway.
