Exactly what the title says - I am on day 7 of 30. Normally I NEVER consume something like Powerade or Gatorade, but for some reason during this fast I have been sipping a bottle that last me about three days. I also supplement with Snake Juice.
My question is - does Powerade Zero pull you out of ketosis/autophagy? I know consuming this is not a true water fast at this point. I also know there is a ton of artificial whatever in it, but does it pull you out of ketosis? I can post a label possibly, but is is zero cal, zero fat, less than 1 g carb, zero sugar zero protein.
My understanding is that it’s not definitive in terms of the insulin response from artificial sweeteners. On the other hand, protein triggers insulin as well and the same people who caution against any sweeteners also encourage bone broth.
My view is that it may be ideal to avoid anything, but your body still has to function so even if you reduce the availability of free fatty acids for a while your body is still relying on ketosis. If it pulled you out without having any actual calories then you would feel a whole lot worse. So if sipping it makes you feel better and keeps maintain the fast then I don’t see the problem.
Also, plenty of people routinely dip out of fasts for a day or even a few hours before resuming. It’s not a big deal, and the more experience you have, the more quickly your body will adapt to what’s available.
Try apple cider ,lemon and pink salt. I fasted for heal reason so I tried stay away from all the dye,artifical sweet. Gave your gut a reset and put the good food source back in. But that’s just me, like all other said,what you can to help maintain fasting phase than do it. Listen to your body is key.
I have limited myself to one can of Zero soda a day at lunch, I’ve been good thus far. Wouldn’t have over one can but that’s just me as I don’t want it to cause cravings which one can certainly does not for me personally 👍🏻
