Does anyone have any info on cheat days and metabolism?

I’m a 5ft 7 mid 20s female with a SW of 198lbs and a CW of 192 lbs 2 weeks into this. I’ve been eating between 1000 and 1500 calories a day and a friend told me that all I’m going to do is slow down my metabolism and I won’t lose much weight. They suggested a cheat day to keep my metabolism up, and from my research it seems that’s pretty common advice.

Can anyone confirm this? And if so how often should you have a cheat day? I’m assuming you should just go to your maintenance calories. I don’t really feel like I need a cheat day but want to do whatever is best.

Answer

I agree with your friend’s advice. I don’t crave junky food any more so my cheat day is just a break from fasting, lots of nut butter, and full fat lattes. I don’t count calories on it and I eat what I want.

Answer

🤣🤣 sorry… your friend is just wrong.

Now let me add to this… And mind you I’m not some expert by any stretch of the imagination… But the amount of fasting that you were going to be doing is nowhere near enough to slow your metabolism or put you into a starvation mode where your body will not burn fat or the foods you ingest.
