Does anyone struggle with IF whilst working?

Hello everyone!

I have been struggling with this so I thought this is the best place to talk about it.

I’m 24 and have been IF for nearly 2-3 years, started at 16 hours and slowly went up, and last year used to fast for 20 hours. Honestly, I have found that IF works so well for me, not just physically but also mentally, I feel so focused and energetic. However at the time, I was a student at uni.

I’ve been chubby my whole school life and bullied for it, but since I started college, I began IF and continued exercise. I was extremely disciplined. Healthy eating, almost cut down on alcohol, I felt so confident that i felt good enough to wear a bikini for the first time last summer.

I graduated from uni last year and now have a full time job (since October) and I can’t even get through the afternoon without thinking about food. I struggle to fast and sometimes it’s like I haven’t seen food in days. It absolutely sucks because I would hate to go back to my old weight and habits. My working hours are from 8am-4.30pm and I swear my tummy grumbles as soon as I get to work and even throughout the day.

To all of you with full time jobs, how do you manage to IF? I really want to get back to the habit because it’s gotten to a point where it’s affecting me mentally, and physically.

Any advice/tips will be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance ♥️

Answer

I work a physical job during the day and I put most of my fasting hours in the evening when I’m relaxing at home and sleeping.

So I fast from 8pm till 2pm the next day and get to break my fast on my work lunchbreak and have a meal when I get home. So that gives me 18 hour fasting and 6 hours eating, that schedule just fits my lifestyle but maybe it gives you an idea of a schedule you could try.

Or if you wanna have something to eat in the morning you could do eating time from 10am to 5pm then fast from 5pm till 10am the next day. Or 10am to 6pm eating if you want to have a little more time, then you could fast from 6pm till 10am the next day

What I like about this IF is you can tailor it to fit your lifestyle. Also while fasting I’m drinking plenty of water so I pee like a racehorse sometimes but then I’d slow down a little on drinking so much water.

Staying hydrated helps big time while fasting to keep away brain fog, and control hunger because often times hunger and thirst get confused.

During your eating window be sure to consume enough calories to sustain yourself.

So perhaps change your IF schedule around to fir your lifestyle, you’ll get there.
