Does BMR take into account the calories burned during the exercise?

From what I understand, it considers the influence in metabolic rate, but does it consider calories consumed during execution?

Answer

BMR = Basal Metabolic Rate. It does not include calories burned via exercise.

Calories burned via exercise would be considered your EAT (exercise activity thermogenesis).

TDEE = BMR + TEF + EAT + NEAT

TDEE = Total Daily Energy Expenditure

BMR = Basal Metabolic Rate

TEF = Thermic Effect of Food

EAT = Exercise Activity Thermogenesis

NEAT = Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis

Answer

I’m struggling with this myself. Particularly with setting up the My Fitness Pal App. Like, I bike for 40+ minutes nearly every day, but outside of that I’m working at my desk almost constantly with occasional minor breaks.

Am I sedentary or active?
