People say it can kick me out of ketosis? Will chewing gum slow down my weight loss if i’m water fasting?
I ate about 4 packs of gum day 12-14 during my fast. Didn’t really stop much - still lost 0.4-0.5kg per day. Currently on day 15 of a 30 day water fast. With n = 1, at least for me, I would say theoretically it’s a concern but clinically it’s not.
From my understanding sweet flavor can cause insulin spikes. In my experience these insulin spikes make me ravenous and have led me to break a fast early. I couldn’t tell you if they are enough to slow weight loss though if you continue fasting.
Lowering insulin is an important part of fasting though.
