I can’t go for long without some calories because I’m hypoglycemic, so I e been buying Huel and drinking that during my fasting hours. I only eat breakfast in the morning and then fast the rest of the day, with drinking my protein powder . Am I still doing intermittent fasting? Thanks!
Hypoglycemia, if you are not injecting insulin, comes from eating sugars and starches. That leads to a spike in glucose, followed by a spike in insulin, which may lower glucose too much. Reactive hypos are a sign of risk of diabetes in a decade or so.
Powdered food is not great for metabolic health. I suggest checking out YT vids by the Gallen Foundation on regaining insulin sensitivity, etc. Eating more one ingredient/whole food proteins, high fiber green veg and healthy fats like olives and avocado will help keep your blood sugar stable. Good info here https://www.instagram.com/daniellehamiltonhealth/ and here https://www.instagram.com/glucosegoddess/
and this book has reactive hypos as a targeted condition to reverse (will also slash your risk of diabetes and other metabolic health issues, skip Audible, there are important lists to see) https://www.amazon.com/End-Your-Carb-Confusion-Customize/dp/1628604298
