Does fasting make food just not taste good anymore?

I’ve noticed over the past week that food doesn’t taste good anymore. Last night I had my favorite treat, chocolate ice cream with whipped cream. Took maybe 4 bites and just didn’t like it. It’s weird, but also a good thing 🤷‍♀️

Answer

I completely agree. Processed and sweet foods are no longer enjoyable but fruits and veggies taste better to me. I am starting to see food more as fuel than as a treat or comfort like I used to. I preferfasting days over refeeding days.

Answer

When I cut out sugar completely for a while it really changed my taste buds. My favorite beer tasted so sweet it almost was like a syrup to me. Any kind of candy or sweet treat was awful, just overwhelmingly sweet. Even a lot of normal processed foods that I didn’t consider sweet were bad because I could notice all the added sugar.

Fruits were still good, but that was like the maximum sweetness I could tolerate.

I just experienced this too. I’ve been doing extended fasts everyday for the past month, but last night I decided to treat myself to my favorite pizza place. It neither tasted or felt as good to eat it as it used to. I assume it’s a natural adjustment.

Answer

It might have to do more with people equating food with good feelings over actual taste.

you cant find a commercial that does not suggest eating some food product is equal to having success or love in your life..

Answer

I noticed that I do not enjoy sweet things like desserts, candy, etc as much as I used to since I’ve started fasting. I wouldn’t say it has made food in general taste not as good, though. Usually whatever I choose to eat when breaking a fast tastes like the best damn thing on the planet. I enjoy food more now than when I would mindlessly eat just because it was “mealtime.”

Answer

I find that how I experience food changes when I fast. And anything processed is so much less appealing or satisfying. Whole, healthy foods taste very good and, better than that, make my body feel good.

I eat crap out of habit, overstimulation and stress. And my palate adjusts to those foods. Most of them don’t actually taste good.

Answer

Fasting makes everything taste better to me, processed or not. I can’t relate to a lot of the experiences people are sharing.

I feel like healthier foods get more of a benefit in that regard, but I’ve straight up craved total crap like McDoubles to break my fasts.
