does fasting mess with your eyes?

I’ve worn glasses for 17 years now. The past 12 years night driving was not an option due to lights being so streaky? (Stretched?) I’m not sure if there is a reason for that. I buy all the extras for my prescription that supposedly should help but it doesn’t.

Anyways. Tonight I was a passenger, and noticed I could actually see for the first time at night. The lights just simply had small halos around them instead of stretching out entirely.

Could fasting be helping my eyes??? I just cried my eyes out. I hope this lasts!

Answer

If you are over the age of 40 and sometimes rarely occurs under 40, its likely that you have a quite normal age related change in your eyes which is known to cause nighttime driving glare and halos. Its caused by posterior subcapsular cataract development. As the cataract develops the effects on your vision change. If you have diabetes then this will accelerate cataract development. Also diabetes or more specifically sorry peeps of very high blood sugar levels can cause transient refractive changes in your eyes that make things temporarily blurry and fasting can improve that as the sugar levels drop to normal.
