Does fruit teas like Celestial Seasonings break a fast?

Hi! I’m new to intermittent fasting and I’ve been drinking Celestial Seasonings True Blueberry during my fasting hours to curb my cravings. However, I just read somewhere that fruit teas like these still contain ingredients that raises your insulin level despite being 0 calories.

Would anyone know if this is true and if one should stop drinking these while fasting? These fruit teas really help me manage my cravings, but I’m worried that they’re actually counterproductive for IF.

Answer

Opinions about that certainly differ. Some, like myself, draw a hard line and only allow plain water and black coffee. For me the reason is more than weight-loss. I hope to benefit also from other aspects of fasting. And I don’t know if I have insulin resistance, so I really want to level that out during fasting.

But many have a little help here and there with certain drinks. If it really helps you to fast successfully, I would say stick with it for a while and see how it’s working for you.
