I’m just starting down the road in my IF journey. I’ve gained about 20 lbs this past year from hormonal weight gain and medication. Ive been through breast cancer 2x and have some residual side effects like heartburn and others ( migraines, neuropathy) I really want to see if IF can help out with my gut health and just increase energy levels - plus lose the lbs too. Anyone else feel like IF has helped heartburn, bloating and their overall gut health? Is it possible with 16:8 or should I be doing OMAD?
Hello. I was diagnosed with GERD, esophagitis, and a hiatal hernia back in September and while I started IF primarily for weight loss I have found that not eating past 7 pm has immensely helped with my GERD symptoms. I’m to the point where I’ve cut back to 1/3 of the medications my gastro proscribed me (with his approval). I do 16:8 most days and have very rarely experienced symptoms over the last two months.
For me it did. I used to take a propozol every night. I was eating whatever I wanted. So, I’d have the worst heart burn. I started IF then gradually moved to OMAD. But just by me not eating past 4 eliminated the heart burn. I sleep better now.
