Does IF work as a fasting window only exercise and not incorporating an eating window?

Will IF work as well (for insulin resistance specifically, but also overall health) if I simply wait 16 hours to eat again from my previous cutoff? So rather than only eating 8 hours, just marking when I stopped eating and fasting for the next 16?

Answer

Theres like no conclusive clinical data anything I can say would be speculation.

My speculation is that yeah just having 16+ hour periods of not eating would help but ONLY if you are also counting calories and avoiding sugar and overly simple/processed carbs

I too would like to know this. A few years ago when I started lingering in this sub a lot of people weren’t too strict on eating times other than the fast itself & from my experience if you start a fast a few hours later than you are meant to due to socialising etc it doesn’t appear to prevent weight loss as long as you dont over indulge - however, these days it appears people are a lot more efficient with IF and educated on the science so it will be interesting to see what people have to say.

I eat two meals a day. Second meal is always before 8pm. This is the line I don’t want to cross. First meal next day I eat usually 2-3pm, sometimes earlier if I manage to make it. Typically never before 1pm, and never after 4pm. The second meal I eat when I become hungry and I can eat it before 8pm.I hope that makes sense. I have a very flexible eating window, the 8pm rule, and the 2MAD rule. Does this answer your question?
