Does IF work if you do 15 hours of fasting and 9 hours of eating?

Just wondering if the 16 hours of fasting is a science. Will it not be as effective if you do 15:9 instead of 16:8?

It’s a spectrum - the longer you go in between meals without snacking, the more striking results you will see. So I would say yes, you’ll see some results, but not as quickly or easily as you would if you fasted longer. “Intermittent fasting” technically describes fasts of 16+ hours. But at the end of the day, it’s important that your eating schedule works for you!

Is it going to be as good as 16:8? No ofcourse not. But it’s better than nothing at all. Remember no matter your reasons for doing IF a step in the right direction is still a step in the right direction. It’s important to do what works for you and not get discouraged. Don’t get hung up on minor set backs or breaking fasts early. There is always another day and another opportunity to do the next right thing.

If you break your fasts early or can’t do the full 16 break it with high protein foods. I like hot Almonds mixed with lowfat/skim cottage cheese.

Answer

How many meals are you having in those 9 hours? If just two or three, fine. If you’re snacking or eating lots of sugar and refined carbs, then you’re not going to see as many benefits as if you were going 16+ hours of fasting.
