I used to be really skinny then I gained Covid weight and now I’m skinny fat and want to get skinny again but I also hate counting calories so I wanna try 16-8 and tmad
Yes it works, I started doing IF on 2/2/23 with a starting weight of around 176 pounds. Four days later on my regular weigh in day I weighed 173 pounds and thats not alot, but the second week that I was doing IF my weight had come down to 167.8.
I started on day one with 16:8 fasting from 8pm until 12pm the next day but because I wanted to match it up with my work lunchbreak I changed it to 2pm to 8pm eating window and 18 hours fasting until 12pm the next day.
The way it works is it allows your body to completely use up the food energy and switch the energy source to glycogen stored in the body’s liver and muscles and then once those energy stores are used up then the body will switch energy sources again and use any body fat and convert that to glucose for energy. The last energy source comes from a process called ketosis and turns body fat into ketones for energy, this usually happens with longer fasts like above 20 hours.
While the body is fasted, human growth hormone production increases to preserve the muscle on the body. Also its said to be a good thing to exercise while fasted to increase the effectiveness of a fasting period. I like to do the fasted training in the morning before work and then a handful of hours later Im having lunch at work around 12pm or 2pm if its busy.
Just gotta stick with it and stay consistent.
It works. Some will disagree with the way I see it. The only real significance behind it is you eat less calories by limiting your time u have to eat in a day. And your body sometimes get hungrier for healthier foods. Eat lots of protein and veggies. Don’t drink. Do 18:6 or 14:10 to start. Easiest meal to skip is breakfast
