Does it take as much calories to sustain weight as to gain it?

I’ve been trying to gain some weight by eating more but it sometimes is bothersome to try and squeeze in that extra food, so i was wondering. Will you lose your weight gains if you cut back to your normal daily caloric intake?

I couldn’t find any solid answers on google so i hope this is the right place to ask. :)

Answer

It takes fewer calories to sustain your weight than to gain weight.

To gain weight, you need to eat at a caloric surplus. But after you reach your goal weight, you will not need to eat at a caloric surplus anymore, so you will be able to consume fewer calories.
