Answer

If you have concerns work with your doctor.

This is not a place for medical advice. We don’t know you or your body, your test results or anything about your situation.

Having said that. If your intuition is sending you fear…. pay attention.

I’m not sure why so many people get hung up on ‘doing long fasts’ you get great results doing 24 to 72 hr rolling fasts on a consistent basis.

One or two long fasts are not going to fix any medical condition you have.

Consistently doing shorter fasts is much more effective and sustainable.

Statistically speaking most people who do one long fast rarely fast again unless they have built up to it.

Answer

Not medical advice but if you are not doing a dry fast then you shouldn’t need to worry about the kidneys. Kidney damage occurs as a result of prolonged dehydration.

The biggest problem of water fasting is electrolytes imbalances leading to arrhythmia (could lead to acute heart disease) or refeeding syndrome which is also another electrolytes imbalances.

Answer

Always consult a doctor for extended fasts. Lots of complications can occur including rhabdomyolysis which is kidney damage from muscle breakdown. In this case, it could be from your body finding energy sources other than fat. I’m not a doctor, and a doctor would absolutely be needed to make sure you’re fasting safely
