Does metabolism really start to slow after 3 days of fasting?
What do you guys tend to find?
I tend to do rolling 48 hour fasts time to time because of this reason, but have the chance this week to do a 90 hour fast (3 days 18 hours)
With fat loss in mind, is 2x 48 hour fasts better or 1x 90 hour fast?
It’s holiday season at the moment and will be indulging this weekend, I don’t particularly want my metabolism to slow in the week only to consume quite a lot of calories after
I usually use fasting as a powerful tool to give the edge on a keto diet, but have also found it is a powerful tool to limit damage during the holiday season
It shouldn’t. Especially if when on your off days you aren’t calorie deficit. Long term calorie deficit with or without fasting can slow metabolism.
Researchers took lean subjects and fasted them for four days. They found that —up to and including the fourth day—the resting energy expenditure (metabolic rate) of the subjects was higher than baseline. Source-https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/71/6/1511/4729485
