Does the taste of salt produce an insulin response like a sweet taste is said to?

Just doing 20/4 and started feeling real spacey tired around hour 17, so stuck my finger in a jar of garlic salt/Mexican spice I had to hand and then in my mouth. Was wondering if that would interupt the fasting process, as I’ve heard chewing artificially sweetened gum can produce a body response even with zero calories?

Answer

Sweetener has similar structure as sugar so it triggers insulin response. Carbs and proteins can cause higher insulin response than fat. Mexican spice or garlic salt may not cause much response unless there’s sugar in it.
