Unpopular answer: IF can exacerbate a predisposition toward or latent eating disorder.

Every day multiple people on this forum post about how they ate too much, i.e., “binged” during their feeding window and now they feel like they need to extend their fasting window longer to compensate, i.e., regain control.

There is a fine line between binging and purging and practicing cycles of fasting and feeding. No one agrees about where that line is.

Answer

If you regret overeating, that is significantly different than feeling guilty about eating. Perhaps you need electrolytes during your fasting period, to stop feeling lightheaded and “out of it”… and maybe you need to extend the fast to 18:6 or something like that and eat nutritious food within a safe calorie deficit in your eating window.
