Doing it!!

Alright! 32 YO Male Newport Beach, CA

CW: 230 GW: 180

Doing this for my family and for longevity. I also have bad back problems so weight loss will help!

Question: I’ll be doing 18:6 skipping breakfast. What can I have during a fast and TRULY not break a fast? Just coffee, tea, and water?

Answer

You got it. Black coffee, tea, and water. I’m roughly on that same schedule and also skip breakfast. I usually start eating around noon and then whenever we eat dinner (usually between 630-730) is my last food for the day. So, mine is between 16:8 and 18:6 most days. First week is tough, but it does get easier!

Answer

Excited for you!! I (32 yo F) am starting IF again this month. I am on the same schedule as you and scatpackdriver. I start eating around noon and am finished between 6 and 8. I did this a while ago and lost 22lbs and got down to my goal weight. I stopped IF and was able to maintain, but I missed the other benefits of fasting, so I’m back.

Biggest game changer for me - I got MyFitnessPal and started tracking calories. Not for a deficit or to make things any harder, but to make sure I eat enough calories during my eating window.

First few days to a week are tough, but I bet you’ll love it! I have more natural energy when I’m doing IF.

Do you work out? If so, and if you’re worried about working out in a fasted state - it’s okay. You can research autophagy - your body will use leftover protein in your body. I’ve found weight lifting is okay, but HIIT is not recommended in a fasted state.
