Hello
Some of Dr Filonov recommendations worry me.
In his book he wrote:
Rapeseed, sunflower, corn, soybean, walnut oil - 1 tablespoon of any oil from this list once daily; • Sunflower, sesame, poppy, pumpkin seeds, walnuts; • Wheat sprouts; • Many other plant and animal products that contain these acids in various degrees of con- centration: flax oil, soybean oil - 1 tablespoon
As far as I know these are oils are unhealthy
Am I missing something?
That’s why personally I don’t ever follow any doctor’s advice entirely, but rather what feels good and serves my body. Filonov is human and what works for him and his ideas of this are not going to suit everyone. If you don’t resonate with it, don’t do it - sometimes I think his work is put a little too highly and people need to do some exploration and experimentation for themselves rather than just follow because he said so
These oils contain high levels of linoleic acid, a poly-unsaturated fat. Linoleic crashes metabolism and leads to obesity (from what I’ve been reading).
However, a small amount of unsaturated fat supposedly shuts-down the enzyme SCD1, which is an enzyme that converts your saturated body fat into unsaturated body fat. One theory is that if you’re eating unsaturated fat, your body doesn’t need to make more of it by converting your saturated fat into unsaturated fat.
Olive oil would do that trick (if you believe that trick actually works in a post-obese metabolism).
I would never go out of my way to consume the oils listed, though admittedly I still occasionally eat french fries, potato chips, and baked goods that contain these oils.
