Dr. Fung's opinion on Snake Diet (and/or rolling 48s, 72s, 96s)

Has Dr. Jason Fung provided his opinion on the Snake Diet (and/or on rolling 48s, 72s, and 96s)? I’m very interested to know what his thoughts are.

I’m not exactly following the Snake Diet, but I’ve recently started a 2MAW (two meals a week) regimen. It’s like a combo between rolling 72s and rolling 96s, but it fits to a week (i.e. 7 days), which I find easier.

This makes it pretty similar to the Snake Diet. I don’t drink Snake Juice, but I do take sodium (in the form of NaCl), potassium (in the form of KCl), and magnesium (in the form of MgO) that make up a comparable amounts of minerals to Snake Juice.

I can’t find the exact quote, but I recall he (or his assistant Megan Ramos) saying the clinic did not recommend OMAD long term as it will eventually turn into calorie restriction (either on purpose or just the nature of trying to fit all your calories in a small window). He theorizes that calorie restriction will lower your metabolism. I know you weren’t asking about OMAD, but maybe this will shed some light on it.

However, we all know Fung differentiates fasting (0 cals) from regular diets (calorie restriction), and that the body responds very differently in each scenario. Lots of people on the fasting sub do what you are doing. I would love an answer from him on the subject, but in the meantime, if it’s working for you and you feel well, then that’s good!
