I’ve started dry fasting to tackle hypercortisolism. Cortisol levels which are too high caused rapid weight gain as well as stopping my period for almost two years. Nothing worked, but dry fasting did. After dry fasting for about three months (3-day dry fasts with 9 days of normal eating in between), I had lost 70lbs and my period came back. So I claim it does work for hormonal imbalances. I don’t know about low LH hormones, bit I‘d say it’s worth a shot.
Yes, intermittently fasting induces a large rise in leutinizing hormone, it suppresses it during the fast but it rises after ceasing the fast. This hormone acts on the thecal cells of the follicles in the ovaries to catalyze cholesterol into non-specific androgens. These androgens bleed into the next cellular layer, the granulosa cells, who, when acted on by FSH, convert that into estrogen via the aromatase enzyme. Also fasting can cause the differentiation of stem cells into oogonium stem cells if needed. Meaning you’ll have more ovulatory cycles, delaying menopause.
