Dry (salty?) Mouth

So I started out with a dry fast which I broke last night (72 hrs). I broke my fast with the snake juice last night and have been drinking today as well (noon now). Since I broke my fast I have had about 4 liters of snake juice. I also tried to eat a good size breakfast this morning (I didn’t eat last night, just consumed a few calories via almond milk) but didnt have much of an appetite. What I did eat had a lot of sodium chloride.

So anyway, my mouth is staying pretty dry and I am wondering if I am actually thirsty or if this is a side effect of the salt consumption. I am hesitant to just keep drinking the snake juice because I don’t really want to have diarrhea as I have read that is likely to occur.

So is dry mouth a side effect of the fast/salt or do you think it’s likely that I may still not be at optimal hydration/electrolytes?

Thanks!

Answer

you can continue drinking salt water, but I would just use less sodium and potassium chloride. Maybe only half or a quarter teaspoon for a liter of water. thats what I do and it keeps me hydrated, but I feel like it doesn’t overload my body on salts.
