Dry then Water Fast?

What if I started with 1 day dry fast to deplete glycogen in my liver quickly, then continue for 6 days water fasting? I think my body would go into forced ketosis after a day of dry fasting, and I’ll be able to burn a lot of fat through my 6 day water fast. Opinions?

Answer

Dry fasting is what I use for the first 24 to 36 hours. Because it helps with hunger. Thirst seems to override my hunger. It helps me get over that initial hump of starting. But the first 3 days are the hardest for me. I’m currently in my sixth day. Which matches my all time record of fasting.

Answer

Why do you think that getting into ketosis is faster with dry fasting vs water fasting? The body isn’t going to magically work faster or better by avoiding water, a needed ingredient for many bodily functions.

IMO, a viable way would be to eat a diet containing very low carbs for a few days prior to your fast. Then you are already in ketosis before starting your fast.

Answer

Lots of people feel dry fast is easier that water fast.

So when you pass 1 day of dry fast, just continue dry fasting,

then end your dry fast with prolonged water fast, then go eat fruit and vegetables only,

then start dry fasting again.

imho.
