It’s not necessary and, for most, it’s too much. Those who intermittently fast for at least 16:8 by skipping at least one meal, benefit from keeping glycogen stores low and allowing the body to lower insulin for longer periods. This tends to promote less fat storage, but there are a host of other factors that affect this that to way beyond your original question.
