Eating unhealthy = weight loss

Guys I’m confused and a little frustrated. My weight loss was at a stand still/up a pinch for a few weeks and then finally started to go down a bit after I completely stopped tracking my food and ate (what I consider) unhealthy for 4 days straight.

I’m talking these huge fried chicken strips, deep fried wontons filled with cheese, poutine, pizza, donair wraps.. all in my fasting window of course and mind you, I didn’t overeat the majority of these times (one slice pizza, 1/2 sized poutine, etc.)

But why am I seemingly being punished during the times I aim to eat healthy?

If you’ve been eating at a calorie deficit for awhile or have done so in the past, your body may have lowered your metabolism in response. https://www.thefastingmethod.com/blog/2021/11/22/weight-loss-hormones-vs-calorie-counting-In Fast, Feast, Repeat Gin Stephens advocates against calorie counting unless you are doing 5:2 and then only count on the down days.

Answer

If you’re stressing yourself about eating right you could have a release of cortisol (hormone that promotes weight gain).

What meals do you consider “healthy?” Those could have caused bloating, may have been too high of carbs, etc. if you’re female your time of the month may vary your weight loss a bit as well.
