Emotional changes?

Hey fellow IFers…I’ve noticed some changes since beginning IF about a month ago. Down maybe 5 pounds and my skin, normally prone to rashes and scaliness, has really cleared up, which I’m thrilled about. But over the past few weeks, I’ve also noticed that my temper is shorter. I get more frustrated and angry at work than I used to. Anyone else notice emotional changes like this? Maybe time to channel this into lifting some weights…😁

They call it ‘hangry’. A lot of us who have used overeating as a tool to suppress anger and annoyance. It can distract you from who’s bugging you, put you in a ‘food haze’. Sometimes when you remove that way of coping, you allow yourself to feel your emotions more strongly- and that will include annoyance, etc.

The first thing that I think of is a lack of electrolytes in this situation. I find that getting enough electrolytes really helps me not to be short tempered or stressed out while fasting.

I will take a brisk walk to keep stress away. I think exercise is a great way to relive stress.

I also drink green tea and take other supplements to enhance my mood naturally.

Good luck and happy and safe fasting!

My first couple of months I had some pretty intense emotional swings, they have really balanced out and I’m not “mean” anymore. I would just make sure there are healthy fats being consumed as well. You never know the whole body is detoxing, the brain could as well. This is what I felt and noticed. I am so much more clear headed and grasp concepts much better. Best of luck though I know this transition can be rough!
