Energy without caffeine (for work)

Hi,

I’m about to start back into the 40hr a week grind after taking a couple years off.

Coffee and caffeinated tea give me the jitters after a few days of taking either, and then I usually crash with a significant headache/migraine for a few days after.

Besides sugar and b vitamins, does anyone know of a sustainable energy source for daily consumption? - Or even every few days if it provides stable sustained energy in between… so suggestions for meth and cocaine would not work, for example :)

Answer

Just to clarify things, caffeine is a stimulant, not a source of energy like food is. As a sustainable energy sources I recommend oatmeal with some Greek yoghurt/Skyr and nuts and berries in the morning. You can try switching to green tea which is less caffeinated and less likely to give you jitters.

Answer

Sleep hygiene; meal timing, quantity, and quality; exercise; hydration.

Work with your body to find its effective rhythm and support it. The adjustment can suck, but afterwards things calibrate very effectively until they are harshly disrupted. So also avoid the harsh disruptions if you can.

Lion’s mane helped me focus in the morning before work. Also, not sure if you’re willing to change up your nutrition, but while I was keto for ~7 months last year, I rarely needed my morning coffee. Ketones power the brain quite well.

I’m not sure what about a 40 hour work week is so taxing on you that an ordinary diet and adequate sleep can’t address, but in general, for me:

In my exeprience those methods really busted my energy levels

Working out. (could be anything from walking to intense heavy workout/weighted calisthenics)

Cold showers. Man this alone gets me so hyped!

Lowcarb/keto diet. (Seems like carbs are the fuel for energy but trust me they dont. This days we consume way too much carbs, ever had a big meal of carbs and felt sleepy? Yeah it was those carbs, ever had a big meal of salad and got sleepy? Hell no. Just try reducing the carbs a big see how it effects you, or do some meals without carbs and see for yourself)

Nofap. (Yeah porn really makes you sleepy weak of energy cause you just flushed that energy in the toilet and your body needs to reproduce that energy back and you get sleepy cause of that)

Its just some methods that help me pls dont criticize and y’all have a beautiful day friends! ;)

Answer

Carbs are for energy. That’s what you should eat. Lol

Update: You all keep downvoting. You are proving my point. Carbs ARE FOR ENERGY. Let me blow your mind more…they are “anabolic”. See how many of you get that term w/in the nutrition community. None of you want to challenge my thoughts I see. Cowards….

Answer

Avoid sugar in the morning and eat meat or eggs. Sugar will make you less stable throughout the day. Wait til at least noon to have any significant amount of sugar. Have a big breakfast with animal proteins(meat, eggs)
