Erythritol in Coffee = SERIOUS stomach issues

Hi Guys :)

I am trying to fast but i cant drink coffee without some kind of sweetener.

I have been trying erythritol in my coffee instead of Aspartame/Acesulfame K but i’ve been having SERIOUS Stomach problems (really really bad diarrhea) and wondering if i will get used to the Erythritol or its best to just stop using it?

I do have quite a lot as it’s not as sweet as apspartame so i have been having around 3 spoons of Erythritol in my coffee. and i have around 3/4 coffees per day before i am on the toilet so much it isnt worth it anymore.

Today i have not had any erythritol, and my stomach’s totally fine, on my third cup of coffee.

Is tolerance a thing for Erythritol?

Sorry for being disgusting. thanks

>3 spoons of Erythritol in my coffee

That is WAY excessive.

That said, stevia is all I can tolerate but I have like three DROPS, not spoonfuls of the stuff.

>i cant drink coffee without some kind of sweetener.

No, you “have difficulty” breaking your sugar habit.
Lose the “can’t.”

Cut back, way back.

You just have a sugar habit and habits can be broken.

Hey OP! Some people are sensitive to sugar alcohols (like erythritol, xylitol, etc) and will get stomach upset from them. If you’re sensitive to them I would try something else. Have you tried monk fruit extract? Just make sure the product you buy isn’t diluted with sugar alcohols - they do that sometimes.

Cold brew is way less bitter and easier to drink black. It’s easy to make at home in a mason jar, there are instructions online. Sweeteners can cause an insulin response so best to skip while fasting. They also cause gi issues for many and there are health concerns, so, may be worth it to break reliance on sweet tastes, esp in fasting windows.

Answer

I used to have to put sugar and such in my coffee, I started buying better quality coffee(local roaster) and the sweetness now comes from the beans being properly roasted, ground, and brewed. Life is too short for shitty coffee
