What is you guys’ experience with this? Would you recommend it, and if so, how much? I’m technically not new to fasting, though the longest i’ve ever gone is only four days (96h). Recently, I feel like i’ve found a pretty good exercise routine that isn’t too strenuous for me, and I was wondering if I should continue it while I fast or just abstain from it altogether. I’m thinking of going for a week, which would be my longest fast yet. I basically just need advice, etc.
I don’t have much experience, but i continue short runs on the treadmill. Currently day 3 of 5. I will take an electrolyte supplement once a day.
I never felt dizzy or weak or anything. I would stop if I did.
Weight training might work —- but —- not sure. On the one hand, during a cut, training prevents muscle loss. But full fast? I feel you need protein to repair muscles — or you’re spinning your wheels. …. I mean a 18-36 hour fast, sure, do weights. But longer it doesn’t feel right - though I never tried it.
But the running I feel is fine. Our ancestors surely ran on a fasted state. It’s called hunting. Plus i enjoy burning another 300-400 cal a day.
I, also, exercise while fasting. I go for walks daily, and will weight lift in a fasted state. I also don’t take an electrolyte supplement. Like others have said, listen to your body and do what’s right for you
I just did a 5/3/1 squat day at the tail end of my first 48 hour and it was monstrously brutal, but I was able to complete it. It all depends on how you feel in the moment. Next time I do it I’ll only do hiit or walking while fasted and do the weight training on feeding days. I plan on doing 48 or 36 hour fasts weekly so still playing around with how and when to work in weights.
I exercise while fasting. I just stick to my usual routine of one day cardio next day strength with 1 rest day and one of those cardio days being just a long walk. If I’m behind on electrolytes I definitely get more sore and the soreness lasts longer but that’s really all that happens for me
