I couldn’t keep up with 3 meals a day. The cooking, the cleaning, the shopping, the money, the hunger that cropped up every 4 hours or so…

ADF has really changed my lifestyle and I have more self esteem because my house is consistently clean for literally the first time in ever.

I do strength training on feeding days and yoga on fasting days.

On non-fasting days, I cook and eat. Cooking always leaves a huge mess for me. On fasting days, I use that time to clean. So the next day when I go to cook, I get to use a pristine kitchen and all clean dishes.

I still have about 40 lbs to lose, but I don’t want to give up my fasting schedule once I get rid of excess fat.

What are fasts like when you’re at a healthy weight ?

Is this sustainable long term ?

Also I am **not dieting. I eat no sugar, no processed foods (that means no bread), and plan to continue this for life. I wrote a letter to the two bakeries and the grocery store (it’s a small town) saying I’m not allowed to have sugar because it worsens my epilepsy.

I’m done with weight loss (and muscle gains) and I still fast daily for health reasons. I’m mostly into OMAD because my carnivore-ish diet is easy to maintain (cooking, cleanup etc), but I do often go for 2-4 day fasts as well.

Note that the extended fasts do get more difficult (and potentially dangerous) if you don’t have enough fat percentage to sustain you for the fast.

But ADF for the most part is fine to keep up with long term.

Back in 2018 when I discovered fasting as a tool, I dabbled for awhile before settling into OMAD which is where I remain to this day. I have done over 24 hours countless times of course, but OMAD represents my “maintenance” essentially. I just have to be somewhat cognizant that I eat a large enough portion to cover my bases. I got REALLY skinny there for awhile and had people in my life concerned. When you spend so many years focused on weight loss, It can be tough to know when to stop.

I like OMAD because it allows me to have dinner with my family every night, and I never have to care about counting calories or having a special meal just for me. I eat whatever it is my wife is making for everyone else. So if it’s Dino nuggets with waffle fries and ranch dressing for an entree, and Paw Patrol ice cream bars for dessert? Game on. Again, I just have to be mindful that I am getting enough.
