Fasting: An Exceptional Human Experience

In Randi Fredricks, “Fasting: An Exceptional Human Experience“ he states:

> “[Autophagy] is usually accompanied by a vast improvement in energy, clarity of mind, and a heightened sense of contentment”

When exactly do I get to that part and past the listless, energy-depleted husk of a human part?

EDIT: I finished my FIRST 72 hour fast soon after this post and refed on cabbage and onions

My biggest challenge is boredom. I’m a 💯percent an emotional eater: I use food to self soothe, medicate, and as recreation. It’s incredibly hard to find a different way to calm and manage my mental and emotional states.

😂 I totally get where you’re coming from. I generally get an uptick of mood and energy at different times depending how often I fast and whether/how I’m well fed beforehand. I’m on rolling 48/72s right now, after a long break from fasting and am feeling rather husk-like 😉

In the past an occasional (weekly or monthly) 48 or 72 has given me feelings of energy, excitement at my progress and a feeling of lightness and clarity. All mixed with some impatience and hunger/boredness. Most people say day 2 and 3 are hardest for hunger.

At the beginning of this week I tried to fast for the first time in a long, long time. I lasted 30 hours. I could barely function. It was terrible. I would be absolutely THRILLED to get to the point you’re referring to above.
