Fasting and IBS?

Hey all! Super fun topic here… not!

I’ve had IBS most of my life. If you’ve ever had it, you know that flare ups are NOT fun!

I’m curious of people’s experiences with fasting and IBS correlation. Sometimes I fast and everything is good. I come to the end of my fast and my digestion gets back to normal. But sometimes I fast and it feels like my digestion NEVER gets started again without some help.

The last few weeks I’ve only been doing 18:6, or 20:4, nothing extended. And it just feels like my intestines have stopped moving. I didn’t have a movement for 5 days so I finally took additional measures.

Yes I drink enough water.

Has anyone else gone through similar things? Thanks!

Answer

Yes. Gut biome stuff helps me. As well as a consistent fasting wchedule. 30 different plants in a week (thinks like basil and rosemary in cooking count as well) that means over the course of the whole week.

Fermented things: Kimchi, yogurt
