Fasting is no cure to any mental disorder.

Hi there, I’ve fast and eat Keto for my mental health, because sugar and cards having extremely detrimental affect on my thinking and my body. If I’m coming off of a Keto break because I’ve been eating sugar or carbs while on holiday or something, I usually have to fast for about 3 or 4 days. After that time my body will go into ketosis, and I come out of the fast by eating protein, usually some bone broth. I then proceed to eat keto, with no sugar or carbohydrates at all, and I stay on that regimen for as long as possible. As long as my body is in ketosis, I have no anxiety, almost none. You can measure the extent that your body is in ketosis by using keto strips and testing your urine. I usually test about once a day. My big challenge is staying heavy enough to be healthy. I end up eating a lot of fats, like so much it’s unbelievable. I drink a lot of whole cream. My overall calorie consumption is quite high, but none of it is sugar or carbs because it affects my brain too much.

Since this conversation got steered towards supplements, there are a lot of things you can try to help. Ashwaganda assists with cortisol management. I’ve found Lions Mane Mushroom helped out tremendously. I recently added GABA & DLPA to my normal routine. St John’s Wort and Valerian Root are good to consider.

Fasting is not a cure. It can help to alleviate symptoms but it is not a cure. One healthy step increases momentum in other additional steps to improve your overall health. Fasting was just ONE of the steps that I took to reduce my depression. I also added in exercise, deep breathing meditation, gratitude journal, positive affirmations and cutting toxic people out of my life.
