Fasting & chronic pain

I suffer from long term back pain (operation to cut out herniated disc). I take pain meds for it. when I fast, I find that my pain levels are reduced. I was wondering if any others who have a chronic pain situation have felt this or anyone know of a link?

The meds I take are not fat soluble, so pretty sure it is not drug being re-mobilised. Pain levels start to fall noticeably after 24hours fast - longest I have gone is 72hours.

Answer

I overextended my knee on a hike this past summer. I could always feel it when I go up and down stairs. Since I started 4:3 a couple of weeks ago, the pain is gone. I wish I could fast longer than 42, but I am not up to that yet.

Answer

Same here. Ive seen many allergists/immunologists, henatologists etc. The few who were familiar with it insisted it would drop your inflammation markers, and thus your inflammation, which severely aggravates pain. Modern fauxd has a lot of chemicals many of us are allergic to, even what you think is healthy food. The caveat is that it can tax your endocrine system. It’s a trade of one thing for another. The key is to not overdo it.

Rheumatoid Arthritis here. Years of inflammation went away on my first extended, 5 day fast and I’ve learned I can completely manage it with a combination of/low carb diet and occasional extended fasts. Really notice when I have more than one day of sugary carbs. Works well. Just learned not to proclaim it unless some asks. First rule of fasting.
