Fasting for autoimmune disease?

I have read studies that fasting is helpful for some autoimmune diseases like MS. I am wondering if anyone here has autoimmune issues, fasted, and noticed any improvements. Also what was your experience and how long did you fast for? I currently do time restricted eating, but have never done multi day fasts longer than a day. I was thinking of doing a 3 day fast for a newbie. Thoughts?

Hi friend. I suffer borderline lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Currently, my longest fast has been 28 hours… I typically do 16:8/18:6. I’ve noticed a reduction in inflammation based on my fasting protocol and am still working my way up to longer fasts - most days are 20 hours now… but I’m going to do a 36 at the end of the week.

Like any other drastic life changes, it’s probably wise to discuss your intentions with your health care practitioner and see if they have any advice/want to monitor you during a prolonged fast.

I’ve been struggling with palmarplantar psoriasis for the better part of a year. It improves when I fast for 3 days. I’m fasting at the end of this week. I can’t fast too much because I need energy for intense workouts, but yeah I’m convinced fasting keeps my psoriasis in check.
