fasting purely for healing injury through autophagy if you have lean/skinny build

so im 174 cm at 64kg. im a pretty active guy doing swimming/jogs and weightlifting. so i got a lean/skinny build. i injured my chest and have costochrondritis since last month. i decided bout 3 weeks ago to fast for autophagy, did 86 hours by the end i just felt pretty skinny around the stomach. 3 days later did a 56 hour fast.

so my question really is how often should i fast and how long for? im trying to gain weight/ideally 73kg but i imagine doing consistent 48/72 hour fasts will make it hard.

if autophagy is my only goal to heal injuries whats the best way of going about this?

Answer

You sound like you have a good routine, just make sure to eat extra on your feeding days to put on weight to carry you through the fasts. Eat clean of course. Increase your eating window too so it’s easier to eat more. Try adding cheese and nuts to your diet.

You are drinking snake juice/electrolyte water on your fast days right? Look in my pinned post of how to fast for my recipe.

Also look into cold therapy aka ice baths or cold showers. It’s scientifically shown to reduce inflammation among many other benefits:
