Fasting - saved my life? or did I just get lucky?

Hi, first time faster here. been curious about fasting and reading about it for a long time. Tried IF (eating only once at 7pm - mostly vegetables and very little animal products).

Before fasting, I got a lot of chest pains, light headed fatigue, and sometimes red blood spots all over my lower leg… what looks like edema? but hurts like hell. sometimes difficult to walk. they appear for me ESPECIALLY after eating something very sugary or oily (ice cream, pizza, burger and fries, etc.)

Ever since I started fasting (and drinking black coffee, no cream, no sugar and tons of water), everything just… disappeared. the red pain spots all vanished, my chest pain is gone, and my energy levels skyrocketed. Also after adjusting to it, I noticed that my sleep quality was also much better.

Is this just temporary? Should I continue fasting or maybe extend the fast even more? or maybe switch a 100% plant based diet from here and completely axe out animal products in combination with IF? I love how I feel now and thought I’d share this… It’s definitely a game changer.

Listen to your body when fasting, and work up to longer fasts don’t try and do too much too fast. If you’re healing a problem like that you’ll want to really monitor how your body reacts to go back to eating. I suggest getting a notepad and document all your symptoms and how they go away and come back and reactions after you eat certain foods. I highly suggest not going plant based and to use high quality animal products .

I had something similar happen to me in my life and fasting also healed it. I have one rule, I don’t eat after 7:30pm. I wake up and some days I push that out to one meal only but many days I eat about 12-16 hours from my last meal and do a workout then eat 2-3 more meals through the day. I make a huge focus on frozen and fresh veggies. I’ve given up dairy 6 -7 days out of the week. I try to give up wheat but it’s hard. I’m allergic to soy, it makes me very upset. You wouldn’t like me when I’m very upset. So I don’t eat it at all. And I only drink water. Usually alkaline since it’s got a sweeter taste and kicks my mood up a notch by the end of the working day If I’m consistent. I take probiotics and I take a daily supplement and I can’t help but feel amazing when I give my body time to do it’s thing in between meals and make those meals as nutritious as possible. I say screw the doctors, if what you’re doing is feeling good/healthy and it isn’t because you’re dosing yourself with chemicals (sugar, caffeine, drugs) then more power to you!
