Fasting Teas - Opinions Needed

Another newbie question…would you recommend fasting teas? I listened to a podcast that was pushing Pique teas. I can’t find any real reviews so I thought I would ask here. I’m also curious as to what your POV is on these teas. Are they useful in the evening in lieu of a snack? In the morning hours before you can break the fast? Thanks for your help!

Not sure if it’s the same ones you’re talking about, but I once bought “weight loss tea” that turned out to contain laxatives. It was a pretty bad experience and I never bought that tea again and have since been wary of teas marketed for weight loss.

I’d just recommend drink plain tea (green, black, or herbal) and make sure it doesn’t contain any additives or sweeteners. As long as you don’t add sugar or cream, you won’t break your fast. Peppermint tea is my go-to tea.

Honestly, whatever sustains you over a long term sustainable fast is the right move. You don’t need to get overly fancy with your additives during fasting and my experience is the more complex I make the process the less likely I am to sustain it over months.

I’ve heard of pique teas - I believe they’ve sponsored Dr Fung and others. I’ve had good results with normal teas, and haven’t bought pique. I drink black, green, peppermint, decaf black vanilla… green is supposed to provide lots of benefits (more with caffeinated, still some with decaf.) IME they help with hunger, hydration and distraction. The unsweetened decaf black vanilla has just enough of a scent and taste of vanilla that helps me feel like I almost had dessert 😉

I share this comment multiple times a day to newbies.

The best trick I can give you is to vary your beverages.

I love these liquids during my fasts!

TAZO Mint

TAZO classic chai

TAZO Passion Tea

All Polar Seltzer Flavors

All La Croix Flavors

Black Coffee! (If you find it to bitter just add a tiny tiny tiny bit of salt it cuts the bitterness and it’s how I learned to love black coffee)

Water!

A mug of hot water with a splash of apple cider vinegar makes a lovely hot tea type beverage as well!

LyteShow is a electrolyte product I use during my fasts in my water.

I take these magnesium pills for my electrolytes as well and I buy them at Target or Amazon whatever is cheapest.

I don’t know about a fasting tea, but I always have a cup of tea in the morning. It’s usually a choice between green tea or chinese tea. At the end of the day, just have a whatever tea you enjoy, just make sure it’s just tea with no milk or sugar.
